Do I need to see my doctor for a referral prior to starting physiotherapy?
SquareOne Physiotherapy welcomes patients with or without a doctor’s referral. For patients with extended health benefit plans, please do check with your service provider as some providers require a doctor’s referral in order to process coverage of the payment.
Will my treatment be covered by OHIP?
Effective April 1, 2005 government-funded physiotherapy services are no longer covered by OHIP. Our clinic welcomes Extended Health Benefit Plans, Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) coverage, Motor Vehicle Accident coverage (MVA), and Community Care.
Are your therapists registered in Ontario?
Yes, all of our therapists are registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
What can I expect from my first visit?
We recommend that you arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to fill out the intake forms and to become acquainted with the clinic’s policies and facilities. Your therapist will then take a complete history and review your current condition(s). They will also perform a thorough assessment of the involved area(s), explain the findings, determine a treatment plan and ask for your consent to treat. The initial visit will usually include a treatment depending on the extent and complexity of the presenting problem(s). Generally, we recommend patients to allow the possibility of up to 2 hours for the initial assessment if treatment will be involved during this session.
What should I except from follow-up visits?
Please allow yourself ¾ – 1 hour for follow-up treatments.Bring comfortable clothing (ie. shorts and t-shirt) and any medical test results or referrals that pertain to the condition you are seeking treatment for.
Will my insurance benefits pay for my physiotherapy?
Generally, physiotherapy is covered by extended health benefits. However, we recommend that you review your policy or contact your provider to confirm the details of your plan, including coverage details and billing information. Some insurance companies will allow us to bill them directly. However, at SquareOne Physiotherapy, we are more than happy to assist all patients with submitting their insurance claims. Please speak with one of our staff members to find out more about how they can help with your insurance claims.
If you have been injured at work or involved in a motor vehicle accident, your treatment will be covered and we will bill WSIB/auto insurance directly for the services.
